NEWS: Berry Blue named best independent café in Gloucestershire!

Berry Blue Café was named best independent café in the county at the Taste of Gloucestershire Food and Farming Awards last night (October 30th).

The café was shortlisted alongside two popular cafes, one in Cheltenham and one in Gloucester, but was awarded the overall prize on the night.

The judges had paid particular attention to the cafe’s community focus and how it uses fruit and vegetables grown from their farm in Cam, as well as herbs from the café flower beds.

They were presented with their award by retired rugby player Phil Vickery and BBC Points West presenter Alex Lovell at an awards ceremony held at Cheltenham Racecourse.

General manager of Berry Blue, Joanna Scrivens, said: “We were so delighted and surprised when they called out our name. We were up against cafes in Gloucester and Cheltenham so it’s nice that they have recognised the importance of local cafes in smaller communities.

“We have worked hard to make changes and improvements to the café over the last year, and this has showed. We have wonderful locals and regulars who come to the café and we think it is fantastic that we see retired people, mums and babies and business people working in the café, alongside each other every day.”
